Messing with insurance companies can make all of our heads hurt sometimes.  If you have home insurance and a hail storm damages your roof, the insurance company's obligation is to make your roof whole, to the same level it was prior to the damage.  This means your roof should not be any better or worse than what you had before.  Part of the process of making sure there is sufficient funds for a replacement to occur is making sure the insurance adjuster that inspected your roof, gave you proper credit needed for the replacement to occur.  This is why it is important to provide this paper work to your roofer.

Many people think that if a roofer sees their insurance paper work, they will get charged more money, but remember, an insurance claim on your roof is not intended for you to make money, but to fully replace your loss.  Since it is against the law in Texas for a roofing contractor to pay for your deductible, the only question is if the roofing company is charging the amount the insurance company said it should cost to fix it, or more.  If they charge less, it is NOT going to save a homeowner money.

For example, lets say the total replacement cost of the roof is $10,000. If the homeowner had a 1% deductible and their home insured amount is $250,000, they would still be responsible for the 1% or 2% cost of their home insured amount.  In this example they would pay $2,500 for the roof replacement and the insurance company would pay the other $7,500.  If you were able to find a roofing contractor that would do the job for $8,000 instead of the $10,000 your insurance assessed, you would still pay that $2,500 of your deductible and the insurance would then pay $5,500 instead of the $7,500 they were paying before.  So you see, you don't save any money by choosing a lower price than the assessed value.  In fact you would actually be receiving a lower value roof on your home and saving the insurance company money.  It is in your best interest to let your roofing company, Lekker Roofing, review your paperwork to make sure they are giving proper credit for items like steep pitch charges, waste removal, amount of material, and proper shingle classification.  The only way, a homeowner would ever make money or not pay their deductible, is if the roofing company or the homeowner was willing to commit insurance fraud.
