About Us

At Lekker Roofing Company, roofing runs in our blood.  In our case quite literally.  Our family tree is packed with roofers.  Getting your roof done right so it will last, and help add beauty to your home is very important to us.  In the residential roofing space, we do roof replacements every day that either have been the victim of a hail storm or wind storm.  In the commercial roofing space we work on anything from business offices to apartments, medical facilities, schools, and churches.  This Lekker Roofing location services the Celina TX area, which means we also service Prosper, Frisco, and Little Elm.

If you live in North Texas, you know that violent hail storms happen pretty much every year.  The size of the hail varies by storm.  Typically there is a direct corelation between the size of the hail and the damage done to your roof.  In most suburbs, after a storm has occured, you will find roofing companies going door to door soliciting their services and offering free inspections.  We dont fault these companies for doing this.  We have done this as well in the past.  It is important however to consider the stability of these roof companies and their roots in your area.  When a storm occurs, roofing businesses will travel from out of town into an area to try and capture business from the storm.  The problem is, what happens after they have done your roof and they leave the area?  If they offered a warranty on their work, how do you contact them to honor it?  At Lekker Roofing we have been around for years, working in the Dallas Forth Worth area and will always be around to honor our workmanship.

If you need a roof contractor near you for your residential roof needs, whether that is a roof replacement or a roof repair, call us for a free inspection.  If you are business and you need commercial roofing, call us today.  We have experience in the commercial space and have the equipment and crews to accomplish large jobs in an efficient manner.

Roof Replacement & Repairs Celina

When it is determined that you need a roof replacement on you home, there are two different options depending on the extent of the damage to the roof.

Re-roof or Overlay

Getting a re-roof, also sometimes referred to as an overlay, is an option if you need a roof due to hail damage, wind damage or just wear and tear.  What this means is that new roof material (shingles) will be layered on top of the damaged shingles that currently exist on your home.

The benefit to having a residential re-roof done is cost.  Getting a re-roof done means a crew doesn't have to remove and dispose of the existing materials on your roof.  This of course would save the homeowner in labor and waste disposal costs.  It would also save the homeowner the cost of replacing the felt and flashing.

There are some downsides of getting a re-roof done.  First, without removing the existing layers of your roof, we can't determine for certain that there isn't damage to the decking beneath your existing layer.  Also, when you overlay shingles on top of shingles, you of course add weight to your roof.  According to dumpsters.com, a square foot of architectural asphalt shingles weighs around 400 lbs.  This is a lot of weight to add to the existing shingles already on your roof.  Depending on the decking used when your home was built or when it last received new decking, this amount of added weight to your roof might be a concern.  Call us or fill out the Inspection/Quote form above to arrange your free roof inspection.  We can provide the pro's and con's of each approach and help you make the best decision for your home, safety, and budget.

New Roof

The decision to get a roof replacement is an important one.  Do you get a new roof or a re-roof?  What type of shingle materials do you want?  What type of shingle materials does my HOA allow?  What shingle colors does the HOA allow?  Will my insurance cover it?  What is my deductible?  Does the roofing company cover my deductible?  How long will it take to complete the new roof?  All of these questions have answers and we can help guide you in finding these answers.

Typically a home owner association (HOA) dictates the type of material and colors that you can use on your home.  For example, if the whole neighborhood has asphalt shingles, it is not likely the HOA will allow you to get wood or tile shingles on your home.  If your HOA wants dark neutral colors, it is not likely they are going to allow you to get that green roof shingle you have always wanted (yes they make those).

If you have your home insured in Texas then you have insurance on your roof.  The question most homeowners have to answer when they get insurance is if they want a 1% or 2% deductible on their roof.  This percentage is multiplied by the home insured amount.  This is the deductible that the homeowner is responsible to pay.  It is against the law for roofing companies to cover the deductible of the homeowner.  Any avenue a homeowner or company tries to do this requires one or both of the parties to commit fraud.

Prior to choosing a new shingle for you home, ask for a sample so you can present that sample to your HOA to get prior approval on the color and material you plan to use on your roof.  This will save you the hassle and expense of the HOA Architectural committee asking you to remove the unapproved color/material from your home.

In addition to shingles, attic vents, pipe boots, and colors, you can also choose options like radiant barrier applications. This is special decking or coverage that can deflect or reduce heat from entering the home in the attic.

Roof Repair

If you have a leak in your roof or in need of roof repair due to hail damage or wind damage or just wear and tear, give us a call.  It is not uncommon for leaks to be discovered after a strong thunderstorm.  These leaks are often discovered due to water spots or damage you see on the ceiling of your home.  These leaks are not going to stop until you get it repaired.  Waiting for too long can cause further damage to your sheet rock and require sheet rock replacement, re-texture and/or painting of your ceiling.  With water entering your home, there is also the risk of electrical damage and potentially mold if the leak is undiscovered for an extended period of time.

New Construction Celina

Working in the new construction roofing space requires coordination, proper staffing, planning, and coordination.  Residential home builder's work with people to build the home of their dreams.  People make plans to move out of their existing homes or apartments, sometimes from across the county.  They make those plans based on the closing date provided by the builder.  Delays to any piece of the home building process can cause that closing date to shift which can cause upheaval in the future homeowners plans.  It can lead to hurt feelings, financial loss, extra expenses, and extra efforts.  This is why working with a roofing company that has experience working with builders is important.

As we mentioned above, having the crews and staff to support working with residential new construction builders is a necessity.  We have been around for many years and have the crews in place to do new construction roofing and meet the demand and timeline that comes with it.

If you are a builder, give us a call and allow us to bid on your new residential development.  We will be happy to provide our history and experience in this space and supply a competitive bid with exceptional service.

Commercial Roofing Celina

Commercial Roofing carries its own unique demands.  Most roofing companies do not have the experience and crews necessary to pursue large commercial roofing jobs like apartments, hospitals, churches, flat roofs, schools, restaurants, and shopping malls, just to name a few.  Commercial buildings and their included roofs exist to generate income and put food on the table for the business owner and employees.  This can cause a bit of pressure to the roofing company that does these jobs.  At Lekker Roofing, we understand where this pressure is coming from and try to make the business roofing process as easy and worry free as possible.

Putting together a bid for a commercial roofing project requires experience.  A poorly done bid that does not include all of the costs associated with getting the roof done right only leads to a roofing company going back to the business for additional funds to cover the cost of the repair.  This is a bad way to do business.  At Lekker Roofing, we have the experience to properly bid the job and then execute the job at the price we bid.

Gutters Celina

Gutters can add to the look and appeal of a home.  They come in a variety of different materials, styles, shapes, and colors.  If a home has gutters, they are installed on the down faces of your home where water would run down the slopes of your home.  The water runs into the gutter where it is pooled together and diverted to a down spout.  A down spout is the part of the gutter system that runs down (vertically) from your roof to the ground.  When the water comes out of the down spout, it will push the water away from your foundation.

The moving of water away from your foundation is important, especially in areas where foundation problems are common, like North Texas.  An abundance of water around a home's foundation can lead to foundation issues, which can be a very expensive repair if you have ever had to do it.  You may have heard recommendations for you to water your foundation to try and prevent compaction, drying, and cracking of the clay we tend to find in the Celina TX area.  It is important to understand that this recommendation typically comes with guidelines on how to water the foundation in a manner that you can control.

If you need gutter installation or gutter repair due to hail storm damage, give us a call today or fill out our form to get a free estimate and inspection.
